Opella's Vietnam factory achieves international GMP certification

Opella's Vietnam factory has earned Australian GMP and Vietnamese GMP-WHO certifications from the Ministry of Health, serving the healthcare needs of people in 13 countries.

Located in the Saigon Hi-Tech Park, the over 72,000 m2 factory boasts a production capacity of up to 90,000 product boxes annually. The group's only R&D center in Asia (one of four global R&D centers) is also situated within the factory complex.

The factory operates on automated production lines utilizing Omron robots, combined with an intelligent monitoring system and real-time data, optimizing efficiency and ensuring accuracy in each stage. The entire production process unfolds within a closed quality control system, strictly adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with international standards. This synchronized approach, from setting standards and monitoring production to ensuring legal compliance, helps maintain consistent product quality, meets global market demands, and guarantees the highest quality before products reach consumers.

The factory can supply not only the Vietnamese market but also caters to the healthcare needs of consumers in over 13 other countries, including Australia, Singapore, and South Korea.

According to a company representative, achieving Vietnamese and Australian GMP standards is a technical accomplishment and serves as a benchmark, affirming the group's long-term commitment to Vietnamese consumers - ensuring that all products under the Opella brand meet international quality standards.

GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification is a system of principles that ensures products are consistently produced and controlled for quality, safety, and transparency. This standard is mandatory for health supplement production facilities in Vietnam and serves as a measure reflecting the stable operational capacity and risk management capabilities of businesses at the factory level.

According to statistics from the Drug Administration of Vietnam (DAV), Ministry of Health, as of 11/10/2024, only 288 pharmaceutical and functional food production facilities nationwide met domestic GMP-WHO standards, a modest percentage within an industry comprising thousands of facilities. In reality, GMP-certified facilities are primarily concentrated among large-scale enterprises with strong financial resources and a focus on sustainable development.

In addition to the domestic GMP-WHO standard, Opella is also one of the few businesses in Vietnam to simultaneously achieve Australian GMP certification. This GMP assessment system is among the world's leading and requires businesses to strictly control everything from input materials, production technology, risk management, and microbiological testing to distribution processes and labeling.

Along with the factory in Ho Chi Minh City, Opella also owns a product warehouse in Tay Ninh Province (formerly Long An), operated with a modern control system. The warehouse is built to meet temperature, humidity, and fire safety requirements, adhering to strict standards for storage, transportation, and handling of goods. This ensures the quality of all products, both domestically produced and imported.

One of the company's flagship products manufactured in Vietnam, Calcium Corbiere - a calcium supplement - has been honored with the "Vietnamese Medicine Star" award by the Ministry of Health for several years (2022, 2024, 2025). The product is currently exported to various markets thanks to its compliance with both international GMP standards. With stringent quality management processes and modern factory and warehouse systems, Opella also provides quality imported products to consumers, notably Pharmaton (multivitamin) and Enterogermina (probiotic) - global brands with decades of history and numerous international awards.

Valentina Belcheva, General Director of Opella Vietnam and Cambodia, stated that with a long-standing heritage in Vietnam, each of the company's products is researched on a solid scientific foundation and has earned the trust of generations of consumers. She also committed that the company will continuously maintain and improve quality, bringing health closer to every citizen. "We aspire to continue leading new standards for the industry and reinforce Vietnamese consumers' confidence in the trend of proactive self-care," Valentina Belcheva affirmed.

Opella is a pioneering brand in proactive healthcare with a leading global portfolio of specialized over-the-counter (OTC) medications, vitamins, minerals, and supplements (VMS). With three GMP certifications, the factory in Vietnam contributes to the group's aim of developing safe, effective, scientifically researched, and accessible healthcare solutions for everyday life.
