Lam Thi Nga, 44, from Ninh Binh and director of Ha Nam Three-Wheeler Company Limited, shared her perspective during the june episode of the "Connecting Love" program: "I am always grateful for the wonderful gifts life has brought me." The program is produced by Nhan Dao Television with the support of Tan Hiep Phat Group.

Nga contracted transverse myelitis at age 6, which led to her legs losing the ability to move. For nearly 10 years, her father sought treatment for her across many locations, hoping she could return to school like her peers. Despite the high cost of treatment, her father ensured she never lost faith in herself.

Nga regarded her father as a constant source of encouragement, ensuring she never felt incomplete. Even after his passing, when pain tempted her to give up, she recalled his words of encouragement and persevered.

Her resilient spirit also guided every choice in her life. As an embroiderer, she once asked her family to help her commission a three-wheeled vehicle in Da Nang, aiming to independently collect goods and be more proactive. However, the vehicle required extensive modifications to fit her physical condition before it was usable.

This experience made her realize a truth only those directly affected truly grasp: "People with disabilities need a vehicle specifically tailored to their body and mobility." This insight became the driving force behind her decision to open a mechanical workshop specializing in vehicles for people with disabilities.

During the process of realizing her startup idea, she met Vu Xuan Quang, 39, from Thai Binh, a mechanic who frequently volunteered for people with disabilities. After she shared her vision, they partnered to establish the mechanical workshop.

Nga explained, "For able-bodied people, a vehicle is merely a means of transport. But for people with disabilities like me, it is a pair of legs."

A representative for the "Connecting Love" program indicated that Nga's story was selected for its widespread impact, not just for her journey of overcoming adversity to start a business, but also as a lesson about someone who, having received kindness, now extends that kindness to others.

At her mechanical workshop, many employees with disabilities find stable work and income. Nga deeply understands the health limitations of each person, having personally experienced the stigma of unemployment. Consequently, she proactively adjusts job tasks to match their abilities. Her goal is to help these employees regain confidence in their capabilities.

For Nga, neither a vehicle nor a job represents the ultimate goal. What she aims to provide is the opportunity for people with disabilities to actively shape their own lives. By achieving independent mobility, working, and earning an income, they can transform their lives and gain the confidence needed to integrate into society.
