United Overseas Bank (Vietnam), known as UOB Vietnam, recently announced the appointment.
Pham Hong Hai brings over 30 years of experience in banking and financial services, having held numerous senior leadership positions at both domestic and international financial institutions. Most recently, he served two years as chief executive officer of Orient Commercial Bank (OCB).
Prior to OCB, Hai spent 28 years at HSBC, where his roles included chief executive officer of HSBC Vietnam and various senior leadership positions within Global Banking and Capital Markets in Vietnam and Canada. He was instrumental in driving business growth, improving customer segment performance, and developing high-performing teams.
Hai holds a bachelor of business administration from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and a financial services management certificate from the Institute of Financial Services, United Kingdom.

According to Victor Ngo, chief executive officer of UOB Vietnam, the appointment strengthens the bank's leadership team amid its expansion in Vietnam, one of the key markets in UOB's ASEAN strategy.
Hai is expected to play a crucial role in implementing strategic priorities, supporting customer growth, and contributing to Vietnam's development and regional connectivity.
