Philosophy helps Perfetti Van Melle Vietnam join top workplaces

Perfetti Van Melle Vietnam (PVM Vietnam) ranked among the top 4 in the Best Workplaces - Vietnam's leading excellent workplaces 2026, attributed to its "people first" philosophy.

The Great Place To Work organization announced the ranking. According to survey results, 95% of participating employees stated that PVM Vietnam is a great workplace.

Jan-Willem Paans, General Director of PVM Vietnam, shared that the company believes organizational growth stems from individual development. The "People First" philosophy is implemented daily through "attract, develop, engage" activities.

"We build a winning culture where every individual feels trusted, empowered, and inspired to grow together", he added.

Nguyen Phuong Lan, who joined PVM Vietnam in 2023, expanded her scope of work after only six months and now holds the position of Marketing Manager for the Chupa Chups brand, the company's largest revenue contributor.

She shared that over the past three years, she has participated in several professional training programs. These include a Masterclass for marketers, the How Brands Grow course organized by the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute (Australia) in Vietnam, and the Better Briefs course in Shenzhen (China). These programs are collaborations between the Perfetti Van Melle Group and international training organizations, featuring curricula designed specifically for the marketing team.

The courses enhance employees' abilities in brand building and development, as well as effective marketing planning, stated the Marketing Manager for the Chupa Chups brand. "Thanks to these, we are equipped with useful, job-relevant knowledge and continuously improve our professional expertise".

In addition, Lan was selected by the company to participate in the LEAP Forward leadership development program, organized by the Perfetti Van Melle Group in collaboration with Hult Ashridge Executive Education (London, UK). The program spanned six months, combining in-person training sessions in the UK, the Netherlands (where the group's headquarters are located), and online modules.

According to Lan, the professional foundation and leadership skills acquired from these training programs supported her in successfully launching the Chupa Chups Jelly Giraffe campaign in 2025. The campaign achieved new records in sales and product market entry speed.

Beyond training programs, PVM Vietnam also fosters career advancement through its internal mobility policy. Over the past three years, the company recorded an average of approximately 130 internal transfers annually. Notably, six managers from the Sales, Supply Chain - Production, and Finance departments have assumed management positions within the Asia-Pacific region.

Do Thi Tin Nhan is one such example. After nearly four years as Finance Business Manager in the Vietnamese market, she was appointed Finance Business & Portfolio Growth Manager for the Asia-Pacific region in 2024. She is currently responsible for nine of the group's markets: Vietnam, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Australia, Thailand, and Malaysia.

Tin Nhan shared that when she received the new opportunity, she had many concerns. This was an entirely new position within the group, and her daughter had just turned one year old, making work-life balance a significant consideration.

"However, after recognizing this as a career development opportunity, while still being able to live and work in Vietnam, I decided to take on this role", she stated.

According to her, over the past two years, support from leadership and colleagues helped her quickly adapt to the new role. The manager learned to manage tasks and connect with multinational teams by combining online meetings with business trips to regional offices.

Tin Nhan noted that leaders often encourage her to combine multiple objectives during each business trip, from attending conferences to visiting markets and meeting local colleagues. This approach allows her to build effective working relationships with Perfetti Van Melle colleagues across the nine countries in the Asia-Pacific region without traveling too frequently.

Perfetti Van Melle is a leading global confectionery and chewing gum manufacturer and distributor, with products available in over 155 countries. In Vietnam, after nearly 30 years of operation, PVM Vietnam has built a portfolio of brands familiar to generations of consumers, including Chupa Chups, Alpenliebe, and Mentos.
