Phu My introduces diesel exhaust fluid solution

Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemicals Corporation (Phu My - PVFCCo) introduces Phu My Xanh DEF, a solution contributing to NOx emission reduction from diesel engines.

Phu My Xanh DEF contains 32.5% urea, the global standard for diesel trucks and cars. The product is manufactured on a modern production line, adhering to ISO 22241 standards and holding international SGS certification. With over 20 years of experience producing urea, the main ingredient of DEF, Phu My says it will ensure a stable, high-quality supply.

Launched in June, Phu My Xanh DEF is distributed through gas stations, authorized dealers, e-commerce platforms, and the PV Oil system nationwide. The product is available in various packaging sizes (10-20 liters) or can be pumped directly from dedicated dispensers. It has a 12-month shelf life, a competitive price, and an average consumption rate of one liter per 800 km.

According to a Phu My representative, the introduction of Phu My Xanh DEF not only expands the company's chemical product portfolio but also contributes to sustainable development goals and improves urban air quality. The company aims to establish Phu My Xanh DEF as an international standard product, serving the community and the environment, aligning with its vision of "a chain of international standard chemical products for human development and the environment."

Diesel fuel plays a vital role in transportation, industry, agriculture, and power generation due to its high efficiency and optimal operating costs. However, it is also a source of NOx emissions, a harmful gas affecting the respiratory system and contributing to the formation of fine dust and ground-level ozone, negatively impacting public health and the environment.

To address this issue, Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) has been widely adopted in countries with stringent emission standards such as Europe, the US, Japan, China, and India. DEF is a compound of purified urea and distilled water. When introduced into the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system of a diesel engine, it converts NOx in exhaust gases into nitrogen (N2) and water vapor (H2O), two substances harmless to the environment. This process reduces NOx emissions by up to 90%, while improving operational efficiency and fuel economy.

In Vietnam, regulations on vehicle emissions are becoming increasingly strict. From 2022, newly manufactured and imported cars must meet level 5 emission standards; from 2026, vehicles manufactured from 2017 onwards will have to meet level 4 standards. This creates an urgent need for supporting solutions like SCR systems combined with DEF.
