On the afternoon of 12/8, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Cristiano Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm.
The prime minister encouraged Qualcomm to collaborate with Vietnamese businesses, institutes, universities, and the National Innovation Center to develop an innovative startup ecosystem. He also urged the company to support Vietnamese businesses in deeper integration into Qualcomm's and its partners' supply chains and manufacturing processes.
He invited Qualcomm to further expand its investment in Vietnam, focusing on core technologies and higher value-added stages of the semiconductor value chain.

Vietnam is implementing several breakthrough solutions to attract high-quality investment and promote cooperation, such as visa exemptions for leading experts and scientists.
The prime minister reiterated the Vietnamese government's commitment to creating a favorable business environment for investors to operate profitably and efficiently, based on the principles of mutual benefit and shared risk.
The president of Qualcomm expressed optimism about Vietnam's future development and praised the country's policies on science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation. He also acknowledged the rapid growth of Qualcomm's Vietnamese partners such as Viettel, VNPT, and FPT.
He believes Vietnam will become a regional hub for research and development, especially in AI. He added that Qualcomm is ready to increase cooperation and support Vietnam in capacity building and human resource training.
Qualcomm, a leading global corporation in wireless technology and advanced 5G mobile communications, is headquartered in the US with a market capitalization of approximately 160 billion USD. Over the years, the corporation has operated as a fabless manufacturer, investing about 70 billion USD in R&D. It holds over 140,000 patents and leads in 5G technology.
In April, the corporation announced the acquisition of MovianAI, a generative AI company belonging to VinAI (Vingroup), and the establishment of an AI Research and Development Center in Hanoi, its third largest global AI center after the US and India.
