On 25/6, prime minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Kyrgyz prime minister Adylbek Kasimalyev on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum's 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, China.
Prime minister Chinh affirmed that Vietnam values its relationship with Kyrgyzstan. Vietnamese ministries and agencies are actively implementing agreements reached during prime minister Kasimalyev's visit in March.
Prime minister Chinh proposed increased economic and trade cooperation, including a railway link between the two countries and onward to central Asia. He also requested Kyrgyzstan continue to facilitate Vietnamese businesses' investment and operations, and support the Vietnamese community in Kyrgyzstan to integrate and contribute to the bilateral relationship.

Prime minister Kasimalyev agreed with prime minister Chinh's proposals to strengthen bilateral relations. The two sides will establish a Vietnam-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Committee this year and sign key agreements in economics, trade, and investment.
Kasimalyev affirmed his support for Vietnamese businesses exploring the Kyrgyz market and seeking investment opportunities, and endorsed increased bilateral trade.
Prime minister Kasimalyev invited prime minister Chinh and other Vietnamese leaders to visit Kyrgyzstan soon, expressing his desire to welcome Vietnamese ministerial delegations to prepare for concrete cooperation before high-level visits.
The two sides agreed to increase political dialogue at all levels, especially high-level exchanges between governments, ministries, and localities. They will closely coordinate to effectively implement agreements reached by high-level leaders and further promote cooperation and mutual understanding between the two peoples.
Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan established diplomatic relations on 4/6/1992. Total bilateral import-export turnover in 2024 reached nearly 21.5 million USD, a 172% increase compared to 2023. Vietnam's exports to Kyrgyzstan were 10.8 million USD, while imports from Kyrgyzstan were 10.7 million USD.
The free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Kyrgyzstan is a member, has been in effect since 2016.
As of 31/10/2024, Kyrgyzstan has one investment project in Khanh Hoa province with a total registered capital of 5 million USD, ranking 83rd out of 148 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Approximately 100 Vietnamese people live in Kyrgyzstan.
On this occasion, prime minister Chinh conveyed a letter from President Luong Cuong inviting the Kyrgyz president to attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention on Cybercrime Prevention in Hanoi in October.
