The cash recycling machine (CRM) is an advanced version of the ATM, incorporating cutting-edge technologies and widely used by international banks such as HSBC, ICBC, and UOB.
Customers can deposit or withdraw cash directly to their accounts at any time. Deposited cash is counted, sorted, and immediately reused for subsequent withdrawals, maintaining continuous cash flow and reducing the likelihood of machines running out of money, especially during peak periods like holidays.
The CRM also offers services such as transfers, bill payments, and information retrieval, allowing users to conduct banking transactions quickly without visiting a branch or waiting in line.

According to a technical expert, each machine can accept up to 200 banknotes per deposit (equivalent to 100 million VND), with no limit on the number of transactions per day. The device automatically sorts denominations and detects counterfeit, torn, or unfit banknotes, ensuring system security.
The entire CRM process is automated, requiring no identification documents or signatures while ensuring security and privacy. The device also serves as a backup in situations such as low phone batteries or network disconnections.

The CRM reduces paperwork for tellers, especially for small cash deposits and withdrawals. Tellers can guide customers through self-service transactions, shortening service time.
SHB stated that the CRM deployment aims to optimize the transaction experience, increasing flexibility and customer autonomy. It enhances SHB's omni-channel transaction model, becoming another touchpoint in its service ecosystem alongside internet banking, the SHB Saha app, and the 24/7 customer support hotline. The CRM also connects digital and physical transactions, contributing to Vietnam's digital economy and society.
SHB has deployed CRMs in various provinces and cities, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Can Tho, Vinh Long, and An Giang. The bank plans to expand installations to residential areas, shopping malls, and traditional markets with high cash transaction demand. In 2025-2026, SHB plans to add features like QR code transactions and citizen identity card integration, allowing cardless cash deposits and withdrawals for increased convenience and security.
In its 2024-2028 transformation strategy, SHB aims to become a leading efficient bank, a leader in digital and retail banking, and a financial service provider for strategic businesses in both the private and state sectors. The bank also focuses on a supply chain - value chain - integrated ecosystem model, linked to green development goals.
By 2035, SHB aims to become a modern retail bank, a digital bank, and a leading green bank in the region.
