Tan Tan introduces Citizen's most prestigious collection to Vietnam

After years of exclusivity in Japan, The Citizen collection, one of Citizen's most prestigious lines, is now available in Vietnam through Tan Tan.

A Tan Tan representative said this marks a significant milestone, providing Vietnamese watch enthusiasts access to timepieces renowned for precision, exquisite craftsmanship, and Japanese philosophy.

The launch coincides with Tan Tan's 40th anniversary, serving as both a tribute to the company's history and an affirmation of its pioneering role in introducing international brands to Vietnam.

The highlight of The Citizen collection is the Eco-Drive Calibre A060 movement, developed and hand-assembled by Citizen in Japan. This High Accuracy Quartz (HAQ) movement boasts an accuracy of ±5 seconds per year.

The Chronometer-certified Calibre A060 features a perpetual calendar accurate until the year 2100. This mechanism automatically recognizes leap years and months with 28, 30, or 31 days, minimizing the need for manual adjustments.

The movement also utilizes Eco-Drive technology, drawing power from any light source, eliminating the need for regular battery replacements and promoting environmental friendliness. It offers a power reserve of 12 months under normal conditions and up to 18 months in power-saving mode.

According to Citizen, The Citizen collection emphasizes not only accuracy but also design and materials. The watch cases are crafted from Super Titanium Platinum, which is five times harder and lighter than steel. They are coated with Citizen's proprietary Duratect, giving the surface a platinum-like shine and scratch resistance. This material is durable, corrosion-resistant, suitable for sensitive skin, and comfortable for all-day wear.

The multi-layered, anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures clear visibility in all lighting conditions. The dials are crafted from washi, a centuries-old handmade paper recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, creating a dynamic effect that shifts with the light. The CITES-compliant alligator leather straps enhance elegance while reflecting Citizen's commitment to sustainability.

Each edition has a unique design: the AQ4100-22W features a Washi Tengujoshi hydrangea pattern, while the AQ4100-65W uses Sunago-maki, a technique of hand-sprinkling platinum for a shimmering effect. This blend of tradition and modernity transforms each timepiece into a unique work of art.

The beveled dauphine hour and minute hands are polished using Zaratsu, a technique achieving a high degree of flatness for optimal light reflection. The slender second hand, which touches each minute marker, is often referred to by collectors as the "Samurai hand" for its sharpness and symbolism. Multi-faceted (5-7 sides) indices enhance visual appeal with a combination of polished and brushed surfaces. The 12 o'clock marker is double-thick or enlarged for added emphasis. Every detail is hand-aligned under a microscope, demonstrating the meticulous attention to detail characteristic of Japanese craftsmanship.

The iconic Eagle Mark logo on the dial and case back symbolizes farsightedness, the desire for achievement, and the enduring quality that Citizen guarantees.

With over 40 years of experience as the official distributor of Citizen in Vietnam, Tan Tan positions itself as a bridge connecting local watch enthusiasts with these exceptional timepieces.

The collection is available at Tan Tan showrooms at 285 Ly Tu Trong and 109 Tran Hung Dao (Ho Chi Minh City), which also serve as authorized service centers for Citizen, Movado, and Bulova.

"As a token of our gratitude, we are offering free battery replacements to all customers who have been with us since 1985," a Tan Tan representative added.
