On 22/7, former US President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he had reached "the biggest deal in history" with Japan. The deal includes a new reciprocal tariff of 15% on Japanese goods.

Japan will also invest $550 billion in the US. Trump claimed that Washington would receive "90% of the profits" from these investments.

The former president declared that Japan "will fully open its market to American cars, trucks, rice, some agricultural products, and many other goods." The agreement will therefore create "hundreds of thousands of jobs."
