Unilode Aviation Solutions, a leading provider of unit load device (ULD) management solutions for air cargo, has unveiled Super Sentinel. This new digital tracking solution is designed to help the air freight industry eliminate lost or unreported ULDs.
Previously, Unilode offered long-range Bluetooth and LoRa tracking tags. Super Sentinel enhances these existing tags by extending their operational capability beyond Unilode's fixed reader network. This allows for the location of lost or unreported ULDs anywhere in the world.
Super Sentinel was developed in collaboration with OnAsset Intelligence, a company specializing in wireless tracking and monitoring devices. These devices are used to track shipments across various transportation modes, including road, sea, and air.

The solution offers item-level tracking, meeting the demands of airlines and freight forwarders. This technology is scheduled for global deployment across Unilode's entire fleet of over 220,000 ULDs in 2026.
Ross Marino, Chief Executive Officer of Unilode, stated, "Super Sentinel represents a major advancement in our digital transformation. This technology complements our existing digital capabilities, enabling us to track lost or unreported ULDs beyond Unilode's reader network."
Adam Crossno, Chief Executive Officer of OnAsset Intelligence, commented that Super Sentinel demonstrates how scalable digital technology can deliver tangible operational value on a global scale. He added, "Our partnership with Unilode continues to push the boundaries of tracking, recovery, and data management for ULDs and cargo."
Unilode reports that its digital solutions are already yielding significant improvements compared to non-digitalized ULDs. The number of unreported digitalized ULDs is substantially lower than conventional ULDs, with a loss rate of only about 0,01%. Super Sentinel is expected to further enhance this efficiency. According to Unilode, the new technology could reduce the number of unreported ULDs by over 95%.
Beyond supporting the goal of minimizing loss and enhancing detailed tracking, Super Sentinel also complements Unilode's existing technology ecosystem, including: real-time ULD tracking, digital operational status reporting, customer portals, and data integration systems.
Unilode Aviation Solutions is a company that provides ULD management and leasing services to the aviation industry. It currently manages a global fleet of over 220,000 unit load devices and offers digital solutions to support the tracking and management of air logistics equipment.
