UOB Heartbeat run raises over 940 million VND

Over 2,000 participants joined the UOB Heartbeat Run, raising over 940 million VND to improve digital education access for students in the Mekong Delta.

On the afternoon of 13/9, UOB Vietnam hosted the 2025 UOB Heartbeat Run at P2 Park in Phu My Hung, Ho Chi Minh City. The eighth annual event attracted over 2,000 staff, clients, partners, and their families, participating in 3km, 5km, and 10km races.

For every kilometer completed, UOB Vietnam donated 30,000 VND to the UOB Heartbeat fund. In addition, UOB Vietnam staff, partners, and clients organized a charity fair at the event, with all proceeds also going to the fund.

Two months prior, bank employees organized internal fundraising activities, including a concert and the sale of items like crossbody bags, tote bags, UOB Heartbeat t-shirts made from recycled materials, and stuffed animals made by people with disabilities. The total amount raised exceeded 940 million VND, the highest since the program began in Vietnam.

The donation will be given to Saigon Children's Charity CIO to equip three computer rooms for nearly 2,000 students at Luong The Vinh, Vo Truong Toan, and Nguyen Van Troi Secondary Schools in An Giang province. This is part of UOB Vietnam's five-year commitment (2023-2027) to equip a total of five computer rooms for students in the Mekong Delta region.

Victor Ngo, CEO of UOB Vietnam, stated that in celebration of UOB Group's 90th anniversary and over 30 years of operation in Vietnam, UOB continues to affirm its long-term commitment to supporting the communities where it operates.

"The UOB Heartbeat Run demonstrates the power of partnership as we join hands with our staff, clients, and partners to make a positive impact. Through our five-year commitment, we aim to expand digital learning opportunities for children in the Mekong Delta, equipping them with essential skills to thrive in the digital economy," the CEO shared.

Since 2023, in collaboration with Saigon Children's Charity, the bank has installed three computer rooms in An Giang, serving over 1,100 students at Tri Ton Primary School and Nguyen Binh Khiem Secondary School. Damien Roberts, CEO of Saigon Children’s Charity CIO, praised UOB Vietnam's partnership for its practical results, providing children with greater access to digital education and learning tools to build their futures.

"We look forward to continuing this meaningful journey and expanding opportunities to even more children in the coming years," Roberts said.

UOB has been present in Vietnam since 1993, beginning with a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2018, UOB Vietnam officially began operations as a wholly foreign-owned subsidiary of UOB Singapore. The bank currently has five branches in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, serving individual, domestic, and international corporate clients.
