VAS among top 50 sustainable businesses

VAS Group has been recognized for its commitment to green development, ESG transformation, social responsibility, and promotion of sustainable development trends.

On 15/7, VAS Nghi Son Group Joint Stock Company (VAS Group) was named among the "Top 50 Vietnam Sustainable Businesses 2025" (Top 50 CSA). The program, organized by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine, assesses businesses across three categories: foreign direct investment (FDI), listed companies, and unlisted companies.

A company representative stated that since its inception in 2007, VAS Group has been a pioneer in Vietnam's steel industry, investing heavily in electric arc furnace steelmaking technology. This modern solution significantly reduces gas emissions, industrial dust, and noise pollution. With its large-scale factory, VAS demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainable development.

VAS has embraced "green" as a core philosophy in its development strategy, combining economic growth with environmental protection to create long-term value for the community and the nation's future. The company's production model operates on a closed-loop system: scrap metal is recycled into steel, steel slag becomes construction material, and wastewater is treated for reuse. This exemplifies an effective circular economy approach, contributing to a reduced carbon footprint in heavy industry.

After nearly three decades of development, VAS continues to lead the way in integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into its operational strategy, aiming to build a sustainable steel industry in Vietnam.

Furthermore, becoming a domestic steel enterprise and a member of the World Steel Association marks a significant step for VAS Nghi Son in its international integration journey. This organization brings together major global steel corporations with stringent standards for the environment, technological innovation, and sustainable development.

Each steel product manufactured by VAS is not only the result of modern technology but also a manifestation of responsible development thinking, prioritizing community and environmental benefits alongside economic growth. This commitment is evident in every operational stage, from production to corporate governance.

VAS recognizes that sustainable development depends not only on green technology but also on a robust corporate governance model. Striving for international standards, the company has built a transparent, humane, and modern governance foundation, integrating ESG criteria throughout its value chain. The "people-centric" philosophy helps the company foster a fair work environment and facilitates comprehensive development for its employees.

Instead of high-profile media campaigns, VAS connects with the community through impactful social programs: the "VAS - Reaching for the Vietnamese Spirit" scholarship fund supports underprivileged students; practical activities within the "Extending Life" program, such as oxygen donations during the pandemic, ambulance donations, and medical equipment support for remote and disadvantaged areas. The total budget for these programs has exceeded 40 billion VND. These efforts demonstrate a spirit of sharing and a commitment to contributing to the overall development of society.

"Every ton of VAS green steel is not just a product but also represents our responsibility, determination, and commitment to building a more sustainable, green, and prosperous Vietnam," affirmed a company representative.

The "Top 50 Vietnam Sustainable Businesses" is an annual ranking organized by Nhip Cau Dau Tu magazine since 2022 to honor businesses leading the way in implementing ESG-compliant sustainable development strategies. The Top 50 list not only recognizes companies with clear commitments to green development, ESG transformation, and social responsibility but also promotes sustainable development trends within the Vietnamese business community, continuing the national commitment at COP26 to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. VAS is recognized as one of the first steel companies to receive this award.
