This information was announced at the EPD certificate awarding ceremony held by the company in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of 16/7. The EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certificate is considered an environmental product declaration, built on international standards from EPD International (Sweden). Accordingly, EPD makes transparent the entire product life cycle assessment (LCA), from raw material extraction, production, and transportation to product use and disposal. It is also a tool for assessing the level of carbon emissions, energy consumption, water, and resource usage throughout the entire production process.

Nguyen Dinh Quyen, Director of ESG Education & Business, a strategic partner of EPD International in Vietnam, said that this EPD project was carried out over eight months with the collaboration of Vicem Ha Tien's technical team and experts from ESG Education & Business. Accordingly, each emission index from stages in the product life cycle, from raw material extraction, production, and packaging to transportation, was analyzed, evaluated, and verified based on international standards.
"Vicem Ha Tien has the highest number of EPDs in Southeast Asia, accounting for nearly 20% of the total number of EPDs in the entire region," Quyen said.

Sharing the same view, Nguyen Quoc Thang, General Director of Vicem Ha Tien, stated that the company is the first state-owned cement enterprise in Vietnam to achieve 17 EPD certificates. This achievement enhances the company's competitiveness in both domestic and international markets. The certificates also affirm the company's efforts in saving energy, reducing CO2 emissions in production, optimizing the use of alternative fuels, and recycling materials. This enables the company to meet the stringent product requirements of demanding markets such as the US, EU, Japan, and other developed countries, demonstrating the company's responsibility to the environment and the community.
"This certificate also reflects our sustainable development goals, contributing to the implementation of the national strategy on green growth and net-zero emissions by 2050," Thang said.
