Vietcombank launches Apple Pay for JCB cardholders

Vietcombank (Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam) has launched Apple Pay for its international JCB cardholders, along with various promotions.

Vietcombank JCB cardholders can now use Apple Pay for contactless payments on their iPhones, Apple Watches, iPads, and Macs. This popular digital payment solution offers both convenience and high security.

Users can pay in stores by authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode, then holding their iPhone or Apple Watch near a contactless reader. Each transaction is secured with a one-time unique dynamic security code, ensuring information safety.

When using a JCB card, the actual card information is not stored on the device or Apple servers. Instead, a unique device account number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard certified chip designed to store payment information safely on the device.

Customers can add their Vietcombank JCB card to Apple Pay directly on the VCB Digibank app homepage by clicking the Apple Pay icon; or by opening the Wallet app, clicking ‘+’ and following the instructions. Once added to an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac, cardholders can immediately use Apple Pay on that device. The service is widely accepted at convenience stores, pharmacies, restaurants, cafes, retail stores, taxis, and many other locations.

Doan Hong Nhung, Head of Retail Banking at Vietcombank, stated that expanding Apple Pay to international JCB cardholders reaffirms the bank's commitment to promoting digitalization while providing customers with a modern, flexible, and secure payment experience.

"As one of the first banks in Vietnam to offer Apple Pay for both international and domestic cards, including Visa, JCB, and Napas, we will continue to integrate other card brands to fully meet our customers' needs," Nhung said.

Along with the new feature, customers can enjoy promotions such as cashback of up to 650,000 VND when adding their card to Apple Pay and making purchases, as well as discounts of up to 30% at over 100 restaurants in Vietnam.
