This plan was announced by Vietcombank in documents prepared for its annual general meeting on 24/4. The bank expects to raise over 10,686 billion dong, which will be added to its business capital and enhance its financial capacity.
Vietcombank's leadership stated that the capital increase will provide resources to restructure weak credit institutions, a task assigned by regulatory authorities. Additionally, the bank aims to support customers during the economy's recovery and development phase.
Several other banks, including MB, VPBank, SeABank, and NCB, have also presented capital increase plans for this year. Vietcombank currently leads the industry in this metric.
Prior to this year's capital increase, the bank also planned a private placement of up to 543.1 million shares to a maximum of 55 investors, including strategic investors. This private placement plan is still pending completion.
Regarding its business plan, Vietcombank targets credit growth within the limits set by the State Bank of Vietnam. The bank aims to maintain its non-performing loan ratio below 1.5%. Vietcombank has not yet disclosed its profit targets for 2026.
Vietcombank also proposed to shareholders the establishment of a subsidiary bank at the Vietnam International Financial Center (IFC) with a charter capital of 3,000 billion dong. This move is essential for the bank to establish a presence and directly participate in the formation of the IFC in Vietnam.
In 2025, the bank recorded a pre-tax profit of over 44,000 billion dong, an increase of over 4% compared to 2024. Credit growth reached 15%, as approved by the State Bank of Vietnam, amounting to 1.7 trillion dong. Total assets also improved by 17%, reaching 2.4 trillion dong.
