According to a VietinBank representative, winning the award two years in a row demonstrates the bank's commitment to its green credit strategy. This strategy supports businesses and communities on the path to sustainable development and a greener future for Vietnam.
VietinBank has developed a Sustainable Finance Framework aligned with international standards (ICMA, LMA, APLMA). Morningstar Sustainalytics, a reputable ESG research and rating organization, assessed the framework as "reliable and impactful." This framework serves as the foundation for the bank's development of a comprehensive suite of green financial products and services.
VietinBank offers specialized products and services to support the green and circular economy models. These include financing for renewable energy projects, rooftop solar power, waste-to-energy projects, green buildings, green exports, electric vehicle charging stations, and green deposit products. By the end of Quarter II, the bank's outstanding green credit balance had increased by 17% compared to the end of last year, supporting nearly 1,000 businesses of various sizes and sectors.
Some of the current green credit packages include: Green UP, worth 5,000 billion VND, which finances environmentally and community-friendly projects; and V-Green Power UP, with a scale of 4,000 billion VND, which provides capital to investors in V-Green electric vehicle charging stations.
"Through these green credit products, VietinBank aims to partner with the business community in implementing the National Green Transition strategy, linking business production with environmental protection," the bank representative said.
