Vietnam Airlines releases nearly 3,7 million Tet tickets

Vietnam Airlines Group launched Tet Dinh Mui ticket sales on 25/8, focusing on key domestic and international routes.

Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vasco have commenced ticket sales for the upcoming Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday. This initial release offers nearly 3,7 million seats across their domestic and international networks during the one-month peak period, from 22/1 to 20/2/2027. This represents an 11% increase in available tickets compared to the same period last year. According to Vietnam Airlines Group, launching ticket sales five months in advance allows passengers more time to proactively plan their trips home, visit relatives, or travel during the year's longest holiday.

On domestic routes, the airline is focusing on increasing capacity for high-demand flights. Specifically, seat availability between Hanoi and TP HCM is projected to increase by 15,4% compared to the 2026 Tet peak season. Routes from TP HCM to Da Nang, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, and Hue also show an increase in supply, ranging from 6% to 13%. The airline stated it will continuously monitor actual booking trends to flexibly adjust flight frequencies, meeting the needs of passengers on each specific journey.

The Tet air travel market typically exhibits distinct passenger flow characteristics. Before Tet, people primarily travel from the Southern provinces and cities to the Northern and Central regions. After the holiday, the passenger flow reverses. This imbalance creates opportunities for passengers who wish to travel or visit relatives in the reverse direction at preferential prices. On these off-peak reverse flights, fares between Hanoi and TP HCM start from 888,000 VND per way. Journeys from TP HCM to Da Nang, Hue, Tuy Hoa, and Quy Nhon also have starting prices from 666,000 VND per way, inclusive of taxes and fees.

Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, noted that the trend of family reunions combined with travel is increasingly popular. According to him, passengers can flexibly choose off-peak reverse flights for more options regarding flight times and better prices. "This helps balance passenger numbers in both directions, while also enabling families to utilize the long holiday for experiential trips at reasonable costs," Trung said.

To optimize fleet operation and reduce pressure during daytime hours, Vietnam Airlines Group is increasing night flights. Flights departing between 21:00 the previous day and 5:00 the next morning account for approximately 17% of the total flights across the entire network.

In the international market, the airline is offering over 1,1 million seats, a 10% increase compared to last year's Tet. Some routes show significant growth in seat availability: Da Nang - Seoul increased by 94%, Hanoi - Osaka by 81%, and Hanoi - Taipei by 64%. The airline is also focusing on increasing flight frequencies to Thailand and Singapore to serve passengers' spring travel demands.

To safeguard passenger rights and avoid the risk of purchasing fake tickets, the airline recommends booking early through its website, mobile application, official ticket offices, or authorized agents. Purchasing tickets through official channels not only helps passengers secure tickets at appropriate prices but also ensures accompanying support services. Depending on booking developments in the coming period, the airline will continue to update and add more capacity on routes with sudden increases in demand, especially in the days leading up to Tet and the period when people return to work after the holiday.
