The government recently issued Resolution 8 on 26/11, allowing qualified Vietnamese citizens to participate in gaming activities at select casino business projects.
Specifically, the resolution permits Vietnamese to play at the Phu Quoc casino project in An Giang province. Concurrently, the government is implementing a five-year pilot program, effective today, allowing Vietnamese entry to casinos in Ho Tram (TP HCM) and Van Don (Quang Ninh).
The management of Vietnamese players and the operation of this business model will adhere to current regulations. To be eligible, Vietnamese citizens must be 21 years or older, have a regular monthly income of 10 million Vietnamese dong or more, or be subject to personal income tax from level 3 upwards.
Upon the conclusion of the pilot program, the Ho Tram and Van Don casinos will cease admitting Vietnamese players until a new conclusion is issued by the competent authorities. The government mandates that businesses operating these casino projects must conduct their operations and manage Vietnamese players with strict adherence to casino business laws.
Currently, there are 9 operational casino projects nationwide: six small-scale and three large-scale. Notably, Corona Phu Quoc is the first casino to welcome Vietnamese players, with Phu Quoc Tourism Investment and Development Joint Stock Company as its investor. This casino is part of a complex project boasting a total investment exceeding 50 trillion Vietnamese dong, featuring 1,470 gaming machines and 147 gaming tables.
