This new feature simplifies access to insurance services, encouraging individuals to proactively enroll in and renew their insurance packages. The registration process is fully digitized, requiring only a citizen identification card for users to input and verify their information. This eliminates the need to visit insurance offices or agents and reduces the burden of preparing multiple documents.

Payments are processed directly on the application, with simultaneous updates across both the Vietnam Social Security (VSS) and Viettel Money systems. This ensures transparent tracking for users and eliminates the need for intermediaries. By purchasing insurance through this platform, individuals retain all benefits as stipulated by regulations.
For voluntary social insurance, individuals can select their income level for contributions, ranging from 1,5 million VND to 46,8 million VND, to suit their personal financial capacity. Payment periods are flexible, available for one, three, six, or 12 months, and beneficiaries also receive support from the state budget as per current regulations.
For health insurance, coverage benefits range from 80% to 100%, with medical examination and treatment costs covered according to the specified benefit level. Participants can use their insurance cards at all contracted medical facilities nationwide, with no limit on the number of examinations. Flexible payment periods of three, six, or 12 months are available to suit user preferences.
To register for voluntary social insurance or health insurance via the Viettel Money digital financial application, users simply open the app, search for and select the "insurance" section from the main screen. They then choose either social insurance or health insurance. For new registrations, users can look up information using an insurance code or their citizen identification card. After filling in all required details, confirming, and making the payment, they can monitor their contract in the "personal" section.
Viettel Money ensures maximum security for user personal data and transactions. The application's eKYC technology has achieved international ISO 30107-3 level two certification. Furthermore, its data security system strictly adheres to the Cybersecurity Law and the Prime Minister's Decision 1813/QD-TTg from 2021.
A company representative stated that sophisticated biometric fraud methods, including silicon masks and deepfake video calls, are unable to bypass Viettel Money's authentication system. The engineering team has also developed Smart Authen, a two-layer authentication solution designed to enhance transaction security.
The company noted that amid ongoing risks of fraud in insurance purchases and renewals, the collaboration between a highly secure digital financial application like Viettel Money and Vietnam Social Security helps citizens feel more confident when accessing and completing insurance procedures.
According to Vietnam Social Security (VSS), in 2024, 18,25 million people nationwide participated in social insurance, representing 39% of the workforce. Health insurance coverage reached 93,35% of the population, the highest level recorded to date. These statistics highlight a growing public interest in social security and health protection. However, many still rely on traditional channels, such as VSS agencies, agents, or commune/ward People's Committees, for information and procedures, often encountering difficulties with paperwork. The partnership between Viettel Money and Vietnam Social Security provides a safer, more transparent, and proactive digital channel for citizens. This online feature saves time, significantly reduces the burden on traditional systems, and helps mitigate associated risks.
