Viettel Money expands access to social welfare benefits

Viettel Money integrates with VNeID to provide convenient, transparent, and secure social welfare account registration, especially in remote areas.

Viettel Digital is leveraging existing telecommunications infrastructure to assist people in remote areas with limited access to banking services. Viettel subscribers can register for Viettel Money, link it to their VNeID, and receive social welfare support online.

This solution addresses a significant need. Data from the State Bank of Vietnam reveals that as of June, nearly 13% of adults still lack bank accounts. Furthermore, not all banks have completed integration with VNeID.

To link Viettel Money to VNeID, users log in, select "Social Welfare," and then "Social Welfare Account." They choose Viettel Money as their preferred account for receiving social welfare payments. After entering their Viettel Money registered phone number, reviewing their personal information, and consenting to data sharing, the linkage status is displayed directly within the app.

Resolution 11/NQ-CP, issued on 9/1/2024, mandates the integration of social welfare accounts with personal identification numbers on the VNeID app. This model simplifies procedures, reduces fraud, and connects population data for faster, more transparent disbursement of benefits, insurance, and healthcare payments.

During the National Day holiday on 2/9 this year, the government issued Directive 149/CD-TTg, granting a 100,000 VND gift to all citizens. This gift was distributed through social welfare accounts on VNeID.

A Viettel representative stated that this demonstrates how linking Viettel Money with VNeID creates a vital channel for delivering social welfare funds to all eligible citizens efficiently. As of April, the app served nearly 30 million customers, offering over 350 services, from digital payments to digital finance (credit, insurance, savings, and online investment).

Viettel Money currently leads the market in essential payment services such as utilities, internet, tuition, transportation, telecommunications, and public administration. By integrating with VNeID, the company aims to support the government's digital transformation and social development efforts, ensuring that "no one is left behind."
