On 5/8, VinEnergo JSC signed a memorandum of understanding to implement a solar power solution integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS) with the Vinfast, Vines, and V-G joint venture factories. This move aims to promote green manufacturing, encourage the use of renewable energy, and develop clean energy infrastructure at the battery and electric vehicle production complex in the Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ha Tinh).
Under the agreement, VinEnergo will invest in, install, and operate a rooftop solar power system combined with BESS for the Vinfast Ha Tinh automobile factory, the Vines Ha Tinh battery pack and energy storage factory, and the V-G High-Tech Energy Solutions Co., Ltd. battery production factory.
The total installed capacity for the factories is expected to be 43 MWp for solar power and 45 MWh for BESS. The electricity generated from the system is estimated to reach nearly 50 million kWh annually, helping to reduce over 33,000 tons of CO2 each year. The project will contribute to realizing Vingroup's goal of net-zero emissions by 2040.

Integrating the BESS solution with the rooftop solar power system will help store and efficiently use renewable energy sources, thereby increasing the proportion of clean electricity used at the factories. By applying the BESS solution researched and manufactured by Vinfast with international safety and quality standards, VinEnergo is pioneering the deployment of the first large-scale BESS solution cluster in Vietnam.
With the synchronous deployment of solar power and BESS systems at the three factories, VinEnergo becomes one of the first units in Vietnam to implement the direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) model, including solar power with BESS, in line with the government's incentives for the development and use of renewable energy. This model also aligns with the goal of greening production and contributing to building the Vung Ang Economic Zone into a green industrial park in the future.
Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy General Director of VinEnergo, shared that the company providing comprehensive green energy solutions for the automobile and battery production factories of Vinfast, Vines, and V-G helps partners gradually complete the green production model, contributing to reducing environmental emissions.
"This is not just an energy project, but also a symbol of the determination, effort, and innovation of Vietnamese businesses to pioneer the application of new technologies to realize Vietnam's Net Zero goal," she said.
The project at the battery and electric vehicle production complex in the Vung Ang Economic Zone (Ha Tinh) is VinEnergo's starting point in providing comprehensive clean energy solutions for partners and businesses nationwide. Previously, Vinfast, Vines, and V-G stated their vision of building a green production and transportation value chain, contributing to the country's sustainable development goals.
