The MOU outlines a strategic partnership between Vingroup and PT. Sulsel Andalan Energi, focusing on large-scale solar power projects. Both companies will collaborate to explore, develop, and capitalize on business opportunities in sustainable environmental solutions.
Specifically, the partnership will investigate suitable locations for ground-mounted and floating solar power projects in South Sulawesi, integrating energy storage solutions and grid connection planning. These projects could range from 1 megawatt to 1 gigawatt in capacity.
Vingroup will contribute expertise in research and development, leveraging the latest green technologies. PT. Sulsel Andalan Energi will provide local regulatory and infrastructure insights.
Beyond energy, the two companies are also actively discussing further collaborations in various other sectors.
PT. Sulsel Andalan Energi has invited Vingroup to explore participating in two smart city projects, constructing a new 4-hectare hospital, renovating seven existing high-end hospitals in South Sulawesi, and developing social housing projects.
Committed to building a green city, the Indonesian company is considering deploying VinFast electric buses and encouraging its employees to purchase VinFast vehicles to promote electric mobility in South Sulawesi. They are also exploring support for V-Green's electric vehicle charging station network and the GSM (Green SM) electric taxi company.
South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman stated that Vingroup's presence marks a new chapter in the commitment to a brighter, more sustainable future. This partnership aligns with the nation's vision and resonates with Indonesian President Joko Widodo's "Asta Cita" initiative for a green economy.
Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of Vingroup Asia and VinFast Asia, described the agreement with PT. Sulsel Andalan Energi as the beginning of a new journey. Vingroup has identified green energy as a key focus area. "We are determined to realize not only national key projects but also expand our influence globally, thereby building a better future for generations to come," Chau emphasized.
Indonesia is considered one of Southeast Asia's most promising renewable energy markets. With its high solar irradiance, South Sulawesi is an ideal location for large-scale solar power projects.
The agreement with PT. Sulsel Andalan Energi further demonstrates Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong's vision of bringing the Vingroup ecosystem to Indonesia.
Vingroup already has a presence in Indonesia through VinFast, its electric vehicle brand, with a diverse product range and an assembly plant nearing operation. VinFast is also establishing a comprehensive "For a Green Future" ecosystem, partnering with GSM and V-Green, with the shared vision of bringing the green transportation revolution closer to everyone.
