Vietnam Airlines has announced the suspension of all flights to and from Vinh Airport (Nghe An) from 1/7 to 31/12. The closure, mandated by authorities, will allow for infrastructure repairs and upgrades.
To maintain connectivity in the north-central region, the airline will increase flight frequency to nearby airports such as Noi Bai (Hanoi) and Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa).
A Vietnam Airlines representative stated that passengers with existing tickets can request itinerary changes or full refunds. The airline advises passengers to monitor its official channels for flight updates.
While Vietnam Airlines has announced its passenger support policy, Vietjet Air has yet to release specific refund details. However, according to travel agents, Vietjet passengers can retain their ticket value for 365 days or switch to a different airport on their original departure date.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) previously notified the Nghe An People's Committee (UBND) and related entities about Vinh Airport's closure for repairs and upgrades. The project, scheduled from midnight on 1/7 to 31/12, has a total investment of nearly 1,000 billion VND.
Vinh Airport's temporary closure is expected to impact travel in Nghe An and the north-central region, especially during the peak summer travel season. Passengers can still fly via Tho Xuan Airport (Thanh Hoa) or Dong Hoi Airport (Quang Binh).
