VNPT extends digital certificate for SmartCA until 2031

The National Electronic Authentication Center (NEAC) has just issued a new digital certificate for the VNPT SmartCA remote digital signature service for the 2026-2031 period.

A representative from Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) stated that to complete the digital certificate renewal process (an electronic certificate verifying digital signatures) for VNPT SmartCA, from early 2026, the unit initiated the application and collaborated with NEAC to conduct a series of strict inspections. The assessment included: checking technical infrastructure at IDC Nam Thang Long and IDC Tan Thuan; reviewing operational processes and system management; verifying security standards; and evaluating the capabilities of personnel involved in service management and operation.

On 10/4, NEAC conducted an on-site inspection of the technical system of VNPT-CA, a public digital signature certification service provider. After multiple rigorous evaluation rounds, the digital certificate for VNPT SmartCA service was approved and became effective for the 2026-2031 period.

VNPT SmartCA is a remote digital signature service developed by VNPT, allowing users to digitally sign documents, contracts, and online records directly on their phones or computers without requiring a USB token. This service utilizes remote signing technology. The signing key is securely stored on a system that meets security standards, enabling users to authenticate and sign documents anytime, anywhere.

Currently, VNPT's digital signature service is widely applied in many key sectors, such as: healthcare, education, finance – banking, electricity, clean water, and online public services. Specifically in the healthcare sector, approximately 2 million digital signatures are used daily.

Additionally, the company has integrated digital signatures into many educational systems for signing electronic academic records and digital files; it also supports authentication for financial transactions, electronic contracts, and various other digital transformation platforms.

For three consecutive years, 2023, 2024, and 2025, VNPT's digital signature service was recognized by NEAC as the best quality digital signature service provider. This achievement stems from VNPT's systematic investment in infrastructure, technology, information security, and its continuous efforts to enhance customer experience.

To promote widespread adoption of digital signatures among the public, VNPT is currently continuing to implement a policy of free setup and digital signing on the National Public Service Portal for individual customers, while offering various unlimited digital signing packages for organizations and businesses. This solution helps users save time, travel costs, and printing expenses, while enhancing the security of electronic transactions.
