On 20/5 in Tokyo, VNPT and KDDI, one of Japan's largest telecommunications groups, announced a long-term partnership. The two parties will jointly develop and operate a new mobile brand in the Vietnamese market. This marks a significant step after the two entities signed a business cooperation agreement in March in Hanoi, ushering in a new phase of providing next-generation telecommunications services.

According to the agreement, the new mobile brand will primarily target young customers and technology enthusiasts with high demand for digital experiences. The project leverages the synergy between KDDI's technological capabilities and international operating experience, and VNPT's infrastructure advantages and deep understanding of the local market. Both parties commit to investing substantial financial, technological, and high-quality human resources to implement the project on schedule.
KDDI will directly share its experience from the "povo" digital carrier model, a well-known brand in Japan for its ability to personalize services and optimize user experience on digital platforms. VNPT serves as the foundational partner, providing nationwide telecommunications infrastructure, a diverse digital service ecosystem, and an existing distribution network. This combination enables the new brand to quickly reach customers and ensure international service quality from its launch phase.

At the announcement ceremony in Tokyo, Mr. Huynh Quang Liem, General Director of VNPT, affirmed this as a solid foundation for VNPT and KDDI to further expand other strategic cooperation models in the future, aiming to elevate the quality of digital services for Vietnamese users.
From the Japanese partner, Mr. Hiroshi Takezawa, Senior Operating Officer of KDDI Group, expressed optimism about the potential of Vietnam's telecommunications market. He believes KDDI's experience in operating digital carriers in Japan will help the new brand create differentiation. The two groups aim to launch services in Q4, offering a fresh choice for mobile users.
Representatives from both sides stated that this cooperation extends beyond business objectives, also contributing to accelerating the national digital transformation process and strengthening trade relations between Vietnam and Japan.
VNPT is a leading telecommunications and information technology enterprise, playing a pivotal role in Vietnam's digital transformation process.
