VPBank partners with Western Union to launch fast remittance services

VPBank signed a strategic partnership with Western Union on 15/4 to launch super-fast remittance receipt services into e-wallets and bank accounts in Vietnam.

According to a VPBank representative, as remittances continue to contribute significantly to the economy, the demand for cross-border money transfers has distinctly changed, with user behavior shifting towards digital platforms. Younger customer demographics, such as Gen Z and Millennials, increasingly prioritize processing speed, simple operations, and the ability to transact anytime, anywhere.

Recognizing this trend, VPBank partnered with Western Union, a global money transfer company operating in over 200 countries and territories, to launch real-time money transfer services to Vietnam. A bank representative stated that VPBank is one of two domestic banks chosen for a strategic partnership in this sector.

Both parties aim to build a digital remittance ecosystem, enabling swift, seamless cross-border transactions. Senders simply enter recipient information in Vietnam on the Western Union system to complete transfers.

Recipients can receive funds in Vietnamese dong directly into accounts at any domestic bank or widely used e-wallets. This flexibility expands service accessibility for diverse customer groups.

The entire process is digital, eliminating the need for branch visits or complex procedures. Funds credit almost immediately after transactions complete, reducing processing time and optimizing user experience.

The service features a no-fee policy for recipients and supports continuous transactions, including weekends and holidays. The system runs on an API platform with robust security standards, ensuring safety and transparency.

A VPBank representative stated that expanding this partnership advances its strategy to develop digital financial solutions, aiming to enhance the international money transfer experience. Western Union considers this a key milestone to increase access to cross-border financial services in Vietnam and support the digital payment ecosystem's growth.

Through this partnership, both parties convey the message, "Half a world away - Just one touch connects," emphasizing digital remittances' role in financial transactions and connecting loved ones across countries.
