To address the capital bottleneck, a common challenge for women-owned businesses, VPBankSME has increased unsecured loan limits by 20% and raised the loan-to-value ratio for secured loans by 5%, enabling access to larger capital. Additionally, the WE credit card, a product designed specifically for female entrepreneurs, has seen a 20% limit increase and attractive cashback policies: 1% unlimited for expenses like insurance, beauty, shopping, and dining; and 0.5% for education. Cardholders also enjoy airport lounge access, Fast Track, and golf course privileges.
In terms of digitalization, the bank offers a 700,000 VND monthly discount for customers using the EcomPay payment gateway, a 0.2% reduction in transaction fees, and up to a 60% reduction in deposits. Along with financial and technological support, VPBankSME focuses on capacity building for female entrepreneurs. In 2025, the bank continues its partnership with CARE Vietnam within the "Bung Sang" initiative (supported by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth), implementing the "Launchpad for Women-Owned Businesses" project. The project's core is the online course "Business Breakthrough with AI," helping women entrepreneurs access and apply artificial intelligence in business management and operations. The project also organizes offline classes to connect female business owners and experts in economics, technology, and finance.
Beyond training, the project provides practical support: online sales sponsorship with key opinion leaders (KOLs), business introduction video production, and gifts for female customers accessing capital from VPBank for the first time. These activities enhance the connection and understanding between the bank and its customers.
Based on four pillars: finance, technology, commerce, and knowledge, VPBankSME and CARE Vietnam aim to build a comprehensive support platform for women-owned businesses, contributing to their sustainable development and the economy.
Since 2017, VPBankSME has consistently supported women-owned businesses through specialized financial, training, and digitalization programs. According to a bank representative, women-owned businesses currently account for about 21.6% of VPBank's SME customers. "Customer trust motivates us to continue researching and developing more innovative products and services specifically for this segment, aiming to improve business efficiency and sustainable development," the representative said.
Data up to 4/2024 shows that approximately 51% of businesses in Vietnam have at least one woman in their ownership structure – a rate higher than many other countries. Meanwhile, according to the report "Promoting Business Growth by Removing Barriers" (jointly conducted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Ministry of Planning and Investment), women currently own about 20% of operating SMEs, equivalent to over 105,000 units. These figures reflect the growing role of women in business and the immense potential if they have access to appropriate support policies and financial resources.
Through its current policies, VPBankSME hopes to contribute to building a solid foundation for the development of women-owned businesses, boosting their operational efficiency, and affirming their market position.
