For example, HCERES's set of standards includes 6 areas: Strategy and governance (mission, development strategy, strategy implementation, communication); training and scientific research (training policy, research, types of training to meet learner needs); training process and career orientation (learning environment and training management); external relations; management and administration (financial system, assets, human resources, information systems); quality and ethics (quality assurance policy, ethics in training and research).
AUN-QA offers 15 evaluation criteria such as Vision, Mission, Culture and Governance; Human Resources; Financial and Material Resources; Research Policy; Educational Outcomes, External Relations and Networking, etc.

In addition to evaluating the quality of universities, the organizations also accredit individual training programs. Currently, the country has nearly 1,950 programs that meet domestic standards and nearly 700 that meet international standards, a total increase of over 700 compared to last year.
The Ministry of Education and Training assesses that the increase in the number of institutions and programs meeting international standards demonstrates a clear direction in improving training quality, aiming for extensive integration with regional and global education. According to representatives of many universities, accreditation helps increase prestige and identify strengths and weaknesses to develop plans for quality improvement.
According to Decree 238/2025 by the Government on public tuition fees, universities are allowed to determine their own tuition fees for programs that have achieved quality accreditation.
