Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade offers full tuition waiver, 3 million VND monthly stipend for direct admissions

Students admitted directly to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade (HUIT) will receive a full tuition waiver and a 3 million VND monthly living allowance, starting from the next academic year.

Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, announced on 8/10 that this policy aims to attract excellent students to the university. In the past three years, HUIT has not had any directly admitted students.

Currently, the full program tuition for a bachelor's degree at the university is 110-116 million VND, while an engineer's degree program costs 139-144 million VND.

According to regulations from the Ministry of Education and Training, students who achieve first, second, or third prizes in national or international excellent student competitions, science and technology competitions, ASEAN and international vocational skill competitions, or official art awards recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as those on international sports teams, are eligible for direct university admission. The number of directly admitted students typically accounts for 1-10% of a university's total enrollment target.

Mr. Son stated that for 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade plans to maintain five admission methods: high school graduation exam scores, academic transcripts, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment scores, a combination of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's specialized competency assessment scores and academic transcripts, and direct admission.

Mr. Son considers maintaining multiple admission methods appropriate, as it expands opportunities for students and reduces pressure by not relying on a single exam. This flexible admission approach also helps the university quickly adapt to changes in the high school graduation exam and competency assessment tests in the coming years.

From 2028, HUIT expects to discontinue academic transcript review, replacing it with a comprehensive competency assessment. This method will combine academic transcripts, high school graduation exam scores, and Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment results to holistically evaluate students' academic abilities.

This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade aims to enroll 8,300 students. Benchmark scores based on high school graduation exam results ranged from 17-24,5. For academic transcript review, students needed 20-26,5 for admission. Under the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City's competency assessment method, the admission range was 607-800 out of 1200. Specialized competency assessment scores from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education ranged from 20,25 to 26,25.
