2025 university admissions: A01 score distribution

The score distribution for the A01 combination (math, physics, and English) used for university admissions has been released by the Ministry of Education and Training on the morning of 16/7.

The A01 score distribution is as follows:

Last year, over 328,000 candidates had scores considered in the A01 combination, with an average of 20.47/30. The most common score range was 21-22. The top scorer was Nguyen Hao Thien, a student at Le Thanh Tong High School in TP HCM, who achieved 29.6 points with 9.8 in math and English, and 10 in physics.

Over 1.16 million candidates took the high school graduation exam on 26-27/6. Candidates can look up their exam scores at https://diemthi.vnexpress.net at 8 a.m. on 16/7. After receiving their scores, candidates have 10 days to submit an appeal for review, with a deadline of 25/7.

The three subjects in the A01 combination – math, physics, and English – are considered to be highly differentiating. Many teachers believe the math and English exams, administered for the first time under the 2018 general education program, were excessively challenging.

The math exam was considered lengthy and more difficult than the sample exam released by the Ministry of Education and Training late last year, making it difficult for candidates to complete within the allotted 90 minutes. The English exam included vocabulary not found in the high school curriculum, exceeding the requirements for 12th-grade students.

The score distribution released by the Ministry serves as a basis for candidates to apply to universities. The registration period for university admissions, including adjustments and additions, runs from 16/7 to 5 p.m. on 28/7, with no limit on the number of changes. Candidates can submit their application fees online from 29/7 to 5 p.m. on 5/8.

Before applying, candidates can visit VnExpress's University Search page to view the fluctuation of benchmark scores over the years by major and university, as well as tuition fees. The system also suggests majors and universities where last year's benchmark scores were close to the candidate's current scores in each combination.

The 2025 university benchmark scores will be announced before 5 p.m. on 22/8.
