Tran The Cuong, director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, announced the school closures at the 2024-2025 academic year-end conference on 20/8. The closures aim to ensure student safety and facilitate traffic flow during rehearsals and the parade.
"Schools located on the parade route or in nearby downtown areas with large crowds and numerous vehicles, including specialized vehicles, will be closed," Cuong said. The list of affected schools and areas, along with specific instructions, will be released by the Department today and will apply to both public and private schools.
Additionally, these schools will open their restrooms for public use during the celebrations, per the Department's request.
Schools in suburban areas will remain open, with regular classes and activities continuing as scheduled.

First, 9th, and 12th graders in Hanoi will start school on 22/8, with other grades starting on 29/8. This schedule follows the academic calendar set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Since public schools start later, many private schools have already welcomed students and begun teaching their regular curriculum since early August.
On 5/9, Hanoi students will participate in the nationwide opening ceremony. From 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, students and teachers will watch the Ministry's live broadcast of the opening ceremony in Hanoi, participate in the flag-raising ceremony, sing the national anthem, and listen to a speech by General Secretary To Lam.
