21 years of building a bilingual international education foundation at VAS

For 21 years, Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) has built a bilingual international education foundation with the Cambridge program to help students develop comprehensively.

During a recent online admissions consultation program, VAS representatives shared four key aspects of the school's bilingual Cambridge international program that have resonated with over 10,000 parents. To build this foundation, the school first designed an educational program with 9 main components to help students develop comprehensively, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills for the future while nurturing core values, a balanced lifestyle, and preparing them to be digital and global citizens ready to take on the world in the new era.

Academically, VAS has built three flexible bilingual learning pathways with English language instruction ranging from 50% to 85%, meeting all learning needs, interests, and long-term orientations of students.

The third factor the school focuses on is the university and career counseling program (UCCC), implemented and personalized from grade 8 through grade 12. Students participate in individual career aptitude surveys, receive one-on-one consultations with experts, attend career workshops with industry professionals, and meet representatives from hundreds of universities worldwide.

VAS also implements a weekly UCCC class for grade 12 students starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. Through this, students can choose suitable careers and prepare thoroughly for admission and scholarships to their dream universities.

In addition, VAS continuously improves its training program every year to enhance educational quality and optimize the learning experience. For the 2025-2026 school year, the school has implemented several important improvements in both facilities and curriculum for students across all three learning pathways, with a particular focus on wellbeing, digital and global citizenship skills, English speaking skills, AS/A Level study time, and AI instruction for students from grades 1 to 12.

Thanks to the implementation of these four orientations, VAS students have achieved many accomplishments in both the Cambridge program and the Vietnamese national education program (MOET). As of 5/2025, VAS students have secured 187 scholarships worth over 7 million USD (over 200 billion VND), an increase of nearly 30% compared to the 2023-2024 school year, from top universities in Vietnam and around the world, including the US, Australia, the UK, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.

In addition, students have won nearly 2,500 awards in various competitions from district to international levels, an 18% increase compared to the previous school year. Of these, nearly 522 awards were at the international level in prestigious academic and talent competitions.

In 2024, VAS students continued to bring home four "Top in Vietnam" titles in Psychology, ICT, and Economics. Le Viet Nam Khoi (VAS Sala) achieved the "Best across four" title with the highest total score in four AS Level subjects in Vietnam.

From its early days, VAS has implemented the Cambridge program, a prestigious and globally popular program with over 10,000 schools in more than 160 countries. Ho Chi Minh City currently has 23 interdisciplinary schools certified by Cambridge. VAS is one of the largest international school systems with 6 campuses, all licensed to teach the Cambridge program from Kindergarten to High School.
