Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, a member of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, announced the list of 32 eligible majors on the evening of 10/7.
This initiative is based on Government Decree 179, which aims to encourage students pursuing basic sciences, key engineering, and strategic technologies critical for national development.
The university reported that all 11 faculties have at least one eligible major, spanning fields from semiconductors, computers, automation, materials, and biology to mechanics, transportation, and construction. The training programs are also diverse, including standard programs, English-taught programs, advanced programs, gifted programs, and high-quality engineer programs, offering a wide range of academic pathways.
Depending on their major, students from the 2025 intake will receive monthly support ranging from 3,7 to 5,5 million Vietnamese dong, provided they meet specific criteria. The scholarship duration is a maximum of 4 years for bachelor's programs and 5 years for engineer programs.

For this year's admissions, the university has allocated most of its quotas (95-99%) for comprehensive review. This assessment considers high school academic records, high school graduation exam scores, and competency assessment on a 100-point scale. The comprehensive admission score is calculated as: Academic performance score + Bonus points + Priority points. Specifically, the academic performance score is derived from: (Competency assessment score) x 70% + (Converted high school graduation exam score) x 20% + (Converted high school transcript score) x 10%.
Tuition fees at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology for the 2026 intake range from approximately 31,5 to 88 million Vietnamese dong annually.
