Deputy prime minister Le Thanh Long signed the decision approving this initiative last week, based on a proposal from the Ministry of Education and Training.

The government has assigned the Academy of Finance to lead the process, coordinating with the University of Finance - Business Administration to complete the necessary documents for submission to the relevant authorities.

The Academy of Finance (AOF) was established in 2001 through the merger of the Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting, the Finance Research Institute, and the Finance Cadre Training Center. The academy's main campus is located in Dong Ngac ward, Hanoi.

AOF currently provides undergraduate and postgraduate training in finance, accounting, business administration, financial English, and financial and accounting informatics to over 20,000 students. The academy also conducts scientific research and management technology training to support financial and economic policy planning for the industry and the country.

The University of Finance - Business Administration, under the Ministry of Finance, was established in 2012. The university is located in Nhu Quynh commune, Hung Yen province, and has approximately 4,000 students.
