As regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, Can Tho University (CTU) will convert high school transcripts, V-SAT scores, and high school graduation exam scores to calculate the minimum entry requirement and admission scores for each major.
The university stated it uses the 2025 high school graduation exam scores as a basis, applying the percentile method and linear interpolation for score conversion. The formula is as follows:

For high school transcript and V-SAT scores (x), each subject will have a conversion table equivalent to the high school graduation exam score, based on analysis and comparison with the high school graduation exam scores.
Using percentile analysis, the university divides candidates into groups from highest to lowest scores. The score conversion table for each subject and each admission method has the following general format:
Top | Transcript/V-SAT Score (x): a < x ≤ b | High School Graduation Exam Score (y): c < y ≤ d |
T₁ | a₁ < x ≤ b₁ | c₁ < y ≤ d₁ |
T₂ | a₂ < x ≤ b₂ | c₂ < y ≤ d₂ |
... | ... | ... |
Tₙ | aₙ < x ≤ bₙ | cₙ < y ≤ dₙ |
In the conversion table, each row represents a percentile range T (top 5%, 10%,...) with the corresponding score range from the original score (transcript/V-SAT) and the converted score. The values a₁, b₁, c₁, and d₁ are different for each group. To calculate the converted score, the steps are as follows:
- Find the score range a₁ < x ≤ b₁ containing the value x in the score conversion table to obtain the values a₁, b₁, c₁, and d₁ corresponding to the top T row.
- Apply the linear interpolation formula with a=a₁, b=b₁, c=c₁, d=d₁, and x to calculate the converted score y.
The score conversion tables for 2025 will be announced by Can Tho University after analyzing and comparing the scores of candidates applying to the university.
The university provides an example of converting the transcript score of a candidate with an average math score of 8.1 over three years of high school and a hypothetical high school graduation exam score:
![]() |
Since x=8.1 is within the range 7.77
![]() |
Therefore, the high school transcript math score of 8.1 is converted to a high school graduation exam math score of 7.6.
Another example is converting a V-SAT score. Suppose a candidate has a math score of 100 and the V-SAT math score conversion table is as follows:
![]() |
Since x=100 is within the range 99.5

Therefore, a V-SAT math score of 100 is converted to a high school graduation exam math score of 8.02.

The university uses six admission methods: Direct admission and priority admission; 2025 high school graduation exam scores; High school transcripts; V-SAT scores; Admission to advanced and high-quality programs; Direct admission to supplementary knowledge programs.
Except for direct admission, candidates applying through other methods must submit their V-SAT scores, transcripts, and certificates to the university from 14/7 to 28/7.
Tuition fees at Can Tho University range from 22.2 to 40 million VND, depending on the major and program.
