Class with provincial top scorer and runner-up in A00 block in Nghe An

Despite mostly being children of farmers and lacking extra tutoring, class 12A1 at Quynh Luu 1 High School boasts 18 students who scored a perfect 10 in Math, including the provincial top scorer and runner-up.

Class 12A1, comprising 51 students, achieved an average Math score of 9,25 in the 2026 high school graduation exam.

Le Minh Hieu led the class, scoring 29,75 in the A00 block (Math, Physics, Chemistry), the highest in the province. He also earned the top overall score for four subjects with 37,75 points. Phan Trung Long secured the runner-up position in the A00 block with 29,5 points.

Principal Ho Sy Nam Thang stated that this is one of the school's best-performing classes to date.

The students of class 12A1 primarily come from farming families and civil servants in the rural areas of the former Quynh Hong, Quynh Ba, Quynh Hung, and Quynh Hau communes. Many face difficult family circumstances, with parents unable to afford external tutoring. Their learning relies mainly on classroom instruction and home study.

According to Principal Thang, 12A1 is an elite class, with students selected from grade 10. Last year, 29 students received provincial excellent student awards. Before the graduation exam, the class participated in three surveys organized by the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, consistently ranking among the top 5 and top 3 statewide.

Beyond Math, students also performed well in other subjects. For example, their average scores were 8,11 for Physics, 8,77 for Chemistry, and 7,93 for Literature.

"The results in the graduation exam are the outcome of a continuous effort, not a sudden breakthrough", Principal Thang said.

Nguyen Thi Tam, the homeroom teacher for class 12A1, expressed no surprise at her students' achievements, noting their strong foundation, diligence, and eagerness to learn. Of the 51 students, many have applied to military, police, technical, economic, and pedagogical universities.

Quynh Luu 1 High School was established in 1961. In the most recent graduation exam, the school had 634 candidates, with 44 achieving a perfect 10 in Math. Climbing from outside the top 20 many years ago, the school now ranks 4th statewide in Nghe An province.
