Metropolia, Finland's largest university of applied sciences, has partnered with FPT University. The two institutions have adapted the curriculum to suit the Vietnamese context while maintaining international teaching quality and learning experience.
Instead of spending billions of Vietnamese dong on studying abroad in Europe, students can study in Hanoi with an international curriculum and faculty. The average monthly cost to attend Finland Metropolia Vietnam is between 8 and 12 million VND.
"The value of an international program isn't just about the numbers, but also depends on factors like teaching quality, location, living expenses, scholarship policies, and the type of institution," a Finland Metropolia Vietnam representative explained.
A key advantage of this partnership program is its tuition fee, just 1/3 the cost of studying in Finland. Students still receive a globally recognized bachelor's degree from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, along with opportunities to transfer or pursue a master's degree at a significantly lower overall cost.

Doan Dinh Anh, a recipient of the Next Gen scholarship worth 225 million VND from Finland Metropolia Vietnam, said the scholarship recognizes his academic efforts and eases the financial burden compared to studying in Finland. "For about 28 million VND per semester, I can study in a quality international environment right here at home," he said.
Beyond optimizing tuition costs, Finland Metropolia Vietnam emphasizes applied and practical education. The program aims to equip students with practical skills to address real-world challenges in society and the market. Through project-based learning, students learn theory and gain practical experience working with businesses in Vietnam and globally. This helps them develop problem-solving skills and essential soft skills for their careers.
Students also have opportunities to work directly with international faculty and industry experts, gaining knowledge, guidance, and practical experience. The international environment and English-language curriculum further contribute to their overall development, preparing them for global careers.
Finland Metropolia Vietnam students will study at 80 Duy Tan, Hanoi, home to many major technology companies and corporations. They can leverage this ecosystem, gain practical work experience, participate in tech events, and network with leading companies in the region. This professional exposure will provide Finland Metropolia Vietnam graduates with an international degree, valuable experience, and the mindset to thrive in their careers.

Finland Metropolia Vietnam focuses on in-demand fields facing global talent shortages, particularly smart IT, with pillars like AI, big data, IoT, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. These fields are projected to lead global innovation for decades to come and are also among Vietnam's priority sectors, with the government aiming for the digital economy to contribute 20% to GDP in 2025 and 30% in 2030.
To achieve this, Resolution 57 of the Politburo (2024) emphasizes the need for synchronized digital infrastructure, 5G expansion, cloud computing development, data centers, and investment in core technologies like AI, cybersecurity, semiconductors, big data, and IoT. These initiatives create a foundation for the digital economy and open opportunities for young people studying smart IT at institutions like Finland Metropolia Vietnam.
