This information was revealed in a report by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) at the Higher Education Conference on Tuesday.
The MOET stated that Block V (encompassing Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science and Information Technology, Engineering Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing and Processing, Architecture and Construction, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Veterinary Medicine) has the largest training scale.
Last academic year, over 707,600 students enrolled in this block, an 18% increase compared to two years prior. This represents a "significant increase," according to the MOET. Strategic technology and key engineering fields like Cybersecurity, Semiconductors, and Artificial Intelligence have "shown promising growth" with over 243,500 students.
Block I (Educational Sciences and Teacher Training) also saw increased interest, rising from over 89,000 students in 2022 to nearly 113,000 this year, a 22% increase.

Regarding quality, the MOET noted that while the average entry requirement in 2025 is about three points lower than last year, several Education and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields have seen improved intake quality.
Of the 77 fields with entry requirements of 28/30 or higher, 50 are in education and 17 are in key engineering and strategic technology fields, such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Semiconductor Chips, Control and Automation.
Speaking to VnExpress last month, Associate Professor Le Hieu Giang, Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, said that technology and engineering fields already had relatively high entry requirements. Their attractiveness has been further boosted by government policies and focused training programs. For example, the MOET plans to provide scholarships and monthly living expenses for students in these fields.
"These fields will maintain their appeal in the coming years," Giang predicted.
Regarding Education, Associate Professor Tran Thanh Nam, Vice Rector of the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, explained that many candidates are drawn to these fields due to tuition waivers and monthly living allowances of 3.6 million VND. The Teacher Law, passed last June, prioritizes teacher salaries at the highest level within the administrative and public service salary system.

In 2025, out of over 1.1 million candidates, approximately 852,000 applied to over 500 universities and colleges. The total number of applications reached 7.6 million.
Around 773,200 candidates were accepted into universities, but only nearly 625,500 enrolled. Popular fields include Business and Management, Computer Science and Information Technology, Engineering Technology, and Humanities.
