Foreign Trade University to launch numerous technology and artificial intelligence programs

In 2026, Foreign Trade University (FTU) plans to introduce 10 new programs, including artificial intelligence, data science, and financial technology.

In an announcement on 5/1, Foreign Trade University stated that in addition to the 10 new programs, it will also expand three existing ones and launch one new curriculum. These new programs are categorized into four groups.

Group one comprises five programs, primarily focusing on technology, data, and artificial intelligence: data science (data science for innovation in economics and business), artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence for innovation in economics and business), digital economics (digital economics and data analytics), financial technology (financial technology and sustainable finance), and e-commerce (smart digital commerce and business innovation).

Foreign Trade University stated that this group clearly reflects the university's direction in preparing human resources for the digital economy and the digital transformation of business models.

Group two focuses on training programs in management, operations, and global value chains, including industrial management (smart industrial management program), human resource management (digital human resource management and organizational development), and logistics and supply chain management (global logistics and supply chain innovation).

“This group of programs aims to train human resources capable of managing organizations, people, and supply in the context of globalization and digitalization”, the university reported.

Group three includes law and auditing programs: economic law (economic law and digital business program), international commercial law (international commercial law), civil law and civil procedure (civil law and civil procedure), and auditing (technology-integrated auditing).

Group four consists of two programs in creativity, business, and cultural industries: commercial business (global digital business program), and business administration (creative business and cultural industries).

Foreign Trade University stated that the launch of new programs aligns with its strategy to innovate training curricula, expand programs with an international career orientation, and meet the demand for high-quality human resource development amidst digital transformation, innovation, and deep economic integration.

The new programs are designed with an international career orientation model, enhancing practicality, integrating technology, and delivered in English. Through this, the university aims to equip students with the foundational knowledge, skills, and adaptability necessary to effectively participate in both domestic and international labor markets.

In the last two to three years, reflecting a multidisciplinary trend, many universities have launched new programs in technology, engineering, and data. For example, in 2024, National Economics University introduced an artificial intelligence program, and Foreign Trade University also enrolled its first cohort for computer science. A few days ago, Hanoi National University of Education announced it would also open an artificial intelligence program.

Last year, Foreign Trade University admitted over 4,000 students through four methods: academic transcripts review, national high school graduation exam results, domestic and international competency assessment certificates, and direct admission.

The advanced program in foreign economics had the highest admission score in 2024 with 28.5 points; international business and business data analytics both required 28 points; other programs generally ranged from 25 to 27 points.

Tuition fees at Foreign Trade University for the last admission cohort ranged from 25.5 million VND to 85 million VND per year. Standard programs had the lowest fees, from 25.5 to 27.5 million VND; the computer science and data in economics and business program received a 30% subsidy from the university, costing 31.5 million VND.

The advanced program in collaboration with the University of Queensland had the highest fee at 85 million VND, while career-oriented and international development programs cost 49-65 million VND.
