The Ministry of Education and Training announced the 2026 national high school graduation exam scores and the score distribution for 12 subjects on 1/7. This year's geography exam saw a notable decline in student performance.
The average score for geography among over 443,000 test-takers was 5,1, with a median of 5. These figures represent decreases of 1,5 and 1,75 respectively compared to last year. The most frequently achieved score was 6 points. A significant change was the sharp reduction in perfect scores (10s), plummeting from over 6,900 to just 56, even as the number of test-takers decreased by only about 30,000. Additionally, 208,000 students scored below 5, while only over 64,000 achieved a score of 7 or higher.
