These schools are located across 17 provinces and cities: Cao Bang, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Dien Bien, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Hue, Quang Ngai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, and An Giang.
Of the 30,000 billion VND investment, local budgets will contribute about 2,000 billion VND, with the remainder coming from the central government. The Ministry of Education and Training stated that these 121 schools are expected to be completed by 30/8/2027 and become operational immediately thereafter.
This marks the second phase of groundbreaking, implementing the Politburo's policy to invest in 248 inter-level boarding schools in mainland border communes. This initiative aims to provide better learning conditions for students in highland regions.

Last year, over 100 schools commenced construction and are projected to be completed by 30/8.
These schools span 5 to 10 ha, accommodating approximately 30 classes and 1,000 students. They will feature full infrastructure connections, including electricity, clean water, drainage, transportation, and telecommunications.
In border communes with fragmented terrain, sparse populations, or limited land, school sizes and student capacities may be smaller. Conversely, in densely populated areas, school capacities could exceed 30 classes, serving over 1,000 students.
The Ministry of Education and Training views this as a policy with significant political, social, and humanitarian implications. It demonstrates a commitment to students in border regions, strengthens national defense and security, and creates optimal learning and living conditions for them.
The Ministry stated it is finalizing specific policies for these boarding schools. Accordingly, teachers working there will receive the highest preferential treatment, and infrastructure, particularly official residences, will be invested in to attract and retain educators for long-term commitment.
