Half of National Economics University students graduate with honors

Half of the 4,610 students graduating from the National Economics University (NEU) in 2025 achieved honors, an increase of about 12% compared to last year.

The National Economics University held a graduation ceremony for the class of 2021-2025 on 23/8. In addition to those graduating with honors, 36% of the remaining students received a distinction. Overall, more than 86% of graduates achieved distinction or higher, among the highest in the country.

Six students graduated as valedictorians with a perfect 4.0 GPA, the highest number ever. They are Pham Thi Kim Ngan (Management Information Systems), Nguyen Vu Quynh Anh (Urban Economics and Management), To Ngoc Ha (Logistics and Supply Chain Management), Tran Thi Ngoc Hoai (Business Administration), Thieu Ngoc Mai (Data Science in Economics and Business), and Ha Duong Huong Linh (Integrated International Program Auditing).

On a 10-point scale, Ngoc Mai achieved a 9.63 GPA, the highest valedictorian score in the nearly 70-year history of the National Economics University.

Dr. Le Anh Duc, Head of the Training Department, said the increased percentage of students graduating with honors is due to the continuous improvement in the quality of incoming students and the steady annual increase in the number of candidates with international certificates.

Students with an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher are exempt from three English modules and receive a score of 10. According to Dr. Duc, this also contributes to improving students' academic performance.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Huy Nhuong, Director of NEU, noted that this graduating class began their university program under special circumstances due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with teaching and learning taking place entirely online. This was followed by a period of technological explosion, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation, presenting students with many learning opportunities but also numerous challenges.

He advised the new graduates to engage in lifelong learning to stay current, cultivate resilience to overcome difficulties, and live and work responsibly towards society.

"Work with conscience, integrity, and a spirit of service. Social responsibility will shape the stature, prestige, and lasting value of each individual," he said.

The National Economics University, originally named the School of Economics and Finance, was established in 1956. In 11/2024, it became a university, enrolling approximately 7,000 students annually.

NEU was the first university to use foreign language certificates for admissions, starting in 2017. From an initial 50 applicants, the number of candidates with international certificates reached 25,000 this year. It is also the first university to announce a plan to make English its second language.
