Hanoi has over 100 private high schools, including those that are privately owned and those with foreign investment. Over half of these schools base admissions on the public high school entrance exam scores, in addition to considering middle school transcripts.
Following the Hanoi Department of Education and Training's release of the 10th-grade entrance exam scores and benchmarks on the evening of 4/7, many private schools announced their application requirements and admission standards.
Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School set the highest standard at 24.5 points, applicable to both of its campuses. With the combined score of Math, Literature, and Foreign Language, students need to achieve at least 8.2 points per subject to be admitted. This benchmark is comparable to the top 8 public high schools in Hanoi.
Marie Curie School has three admission thresholds: 23, 22, and 21 points for its My Dinh, Van Phu, and Viet Hung campuses, respectively. These are the first-round standards. If spots remain, the school will conduct a second round of admissions with standards one point lower.
With its 23-point benchmark, Marie Curie is on par with the 17th-ranked public high school.
Several other private schools have also set their standards above 20 points: FPT, Archimedes Dong Anh, and Ngoi Sao Hoang Mai (all at 22 points); Newton at 21.5; and Ly Thai To at 20.
Here's a comparison of admission standards and tuition fees for some private schools (some schools haven't publicly announced their benchmarks or accept applications without specific score requirements):

The remaining students will attend private schools, continuing education programs, or vocational schools. The quota for private high schools is approximately 30,000 students.
Students accepted and choosing to enroll in private schools must confirm their placement and submit their application documents by 22/7.
