Hanoi University announced its 2026 university admissions information on 5/4, revealing significant changes to its scoring system. For the first time, the university will calculate admission scores by doubling either the math or literature score, depending on the chosen major. This marks a departure from previous years, which solely doubled english scores. The total score from three subjects, after applying the coefficient (maximum 50 points), will then be converted to a 40-point scale.
The university plans to admit 3,705 students across 30 majors, an increase of 285 students compared to last year. Two new majors, English Language - Commerce and International Relations, have been introduced. Fourteen subject combinations will be utilized for admissions, including three new ones: D10 (math, geography, english), D14 (literature, history, english), and D15 (literature, geography, english). These new combinations will apply to only a few specific majors.
Hanoi University employs three primary admission methods. These include direct and priority admission as regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training, a combined admission process based on university-specific regulations, and admission based on National High School Graduation Examination scores. For the combined admission method, candidates with an ielts score of 6.0 or higher (or equivalent), students from specialized high schools, or those with v-sat entrance exam scores are eligible. The university will award bonus points ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 to these candidates.
