Hanoi University of Science and Technology 2025 admission score conversion table

On 18/7, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) announced the score differences between 11 exam combinations and the standardized score conversion table for its three admission methods.

Minimum admission scores - Predicted standard scores for HUST

HUST stated that the score differences between exam combinations are based on the 2025 high school graduation exam score distribution.

Specifically, the combinations used for admission to engineering programs will have no score difference. These combinations include A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), A02 (Math, Physics, Biology), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English), D26 (Math, Physics, German), D29 (Math, Physics, French), and K01 (Math, Literature, Physics/Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science).

For economics, education, and foreign language programs, which also accept D01 (Math, Literature, English) and D04 (Math, Literature, Chinese), the scores from these combinations must be increased by 0.5 when compared to other combinations in the same program.

For example, the Chinese Science and Technology program accepts three combinations: K01, D01, and D04. If the admission score for D01 and D04 is 20, the standard score for K01 is 20.5.

The score difference table between combinations is as follows:

For converting standard scores across different admission methods, HUST uses the percentile method to find equivalent standard scores between the three methods: talent-based admission, thinking skills assessment (TSA) scores, and high school graduation exam scores.

Specifically, the university statistically analyzes admission data from the past three years for different exam combinations. It analyzes the score distribution for talent-based admissions based on international certificates (category 1.2) and academic records combined with interviews (category 1.3). It also analyzes TSA score distribution and high school graduation exam score distribution with two base combinations, A00 and D01, to create a percentile table.

From the standard score x belonging to the percentile range [a, b) of one admission method, an equivalent standard score y belonging to the percentile range [c, d) of another method is interpolated using the following formula:

Based on the published scores for each method, the percentile table correlating standard scores between HUST's admission methods, determined using the base combination A00, is as follows:

The percentile table using the base combination D01 is as follows:

For example, the standard score for the Microelectronics and Nanotechnology Engineering program at HUST using the high school graduation exam scores with combination A00 is 27.68 (x = 27.68). This falls within percentile range 3 (Range 3 in the blue table), with high school graduation exam scores from [27.55 - 28.46) and TSA scores from [69.88 - 76.23).

From there, candidates can determine the corresponding conversion factors:

a = 27.55; b = 28.46; c = 69.88; d = 76.23

Applying the interpolation formula to calculate the equivalent standard score for the TSA method (y) from the high school graduation exam score with combination A00 (x = 27.68) is as follows:

This year, HUST is admitting 9,680 students. The university has predicted the standard scores. For admission based on high school graduation exam scores, the admission range is likely to be between 18 and 28. Candidates can refer to this prediction to register their preferences on the Ministry of Education and Training's system from today until 5 PM on 28/7.

HUST's tuition fees from the 2025-2026 academic year will be between 28 and 90 million VND, an increase of 3 to 5 million VND compared to the current fees. The standard program will cost between 28 and 35 million VND per year.
