HCMUTE admission scores over the past three years

Over the past three years, admission scores at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) have generally trended upwards, with the most popular programs being english language education, technology education, automotive engineering, and robotics and artificial intelligence.

From 2022 to 2024, admission scores for most programs at HCMUTE increased by 0.5 to 4 points. The business and management, and computer science and information technology programs, however, bucked this trend.

Admission scores for business and management programs increased by 1 to 2 points between 2022 and 2023, before dropping sharply by 3 to 4.5 points in 2024. Similarly, computer science and information technology programs saw admission score increases of 0.5 to 1 point in 2023, followed by decreases of 0.15 to 2 points in 2024.

HCMUTE offers two teacher training programs. English language education had the highest admission score in 2024, at 27.5. Technology education, which began accepting students in 2023, had an admission score of 19.7 that year, which rose to 24.15 in 2024.

Automotive engineering and robotics and artificial intelligence were also popular programs, with admission scores of 25 and above.

Conversely, some programs had lower admission scores, ranging from 17 to 22, compared to the university average. These include: materials technology, environmental engineering, building systems engineering, printing technology, and infrastructure management and operation.

The following table shows HCMUTE's admission scores for various programs based on the high school graduation exam results over the past three years:

No. Field/ Program/Program Group Admission Score
2022 2023 2024
1 Educational Sciences and Teacher Training
1.1 English Language Education 26.08 27.20 27.50
1.2 Technology Education x 19.70 24.15
2 Arts

HCMUTE's tuition for the 2025 academic year is expected to be 32.5 to 62 million VND per year, a more than 12% increase from last year.

This year, HCMUTE is recruiting nearly 7,400 students at its Ho Chi Minh City campus and nearly 500 at its Binh Phuoc campus. The four admission methods are: academic transcripts; direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and priority admission according to the university's plan; high school graduation exam scores; and Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment test scores.

Applicants from 675 high schools will receive an additional 0.8 to 1 point if applying with academic transcripts. Those with foreign language certificates or national or provincial academic awards will also receive an additional 0.5 to 1.2 points.
