Ho Chi Minh City Open University reinstates academic transcript review after a one-year hiatus

Ho Chi Minh City Open University (OU) is set to resume using academic transcripts for admissions after a one-year break, and for the first time, will offer bonus points to students who have achieved provincial-level awards.

On 7/1, Ho Chi Minh City Open University announced its projected adoption of six admission methods, including: direct admission; high school graduation examination scores, academic transcripts; international baccalaureate (IB), A-level, and scholastic assessment test (SAT) certificates; and competency assessment scores (V-ACT and V-SAT).

For international certificate applications, candidates must possess an international baccalaureate certificate with 26/45 points or higher, A-level results of C or above in each subject, or an SAT score of 1,100/1,600. These are widely recognized high school qualifications or standardized tests.

For the V-SAT examination, the university will only consider scores for subjects taken in the same test session and organized by a single entity.

This year, OU will for the first time award bonus points for admission to provincial-level excellent students, ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 points for first, second, and third prizes. Additionally, the university will add 0.5 to two points for candidates holding an international English language testing system (IELTS) certificate of 6.0 or higher.
