During the University and College Admissions Preference Selection Day, organized by Tuoi Tre newspaper on 4/7, Nguyen Duc Toan, a parent from TP HCM, shared that his daughter achieved 26 points in the D01 combination (Mathematics, Literature, English). She wishes to place Literature Pedagogy at Sai Gon University as her first preference. He inquired whether non-pedagogy preferences should be listed from the second position or from the sixth position onwards.
Master Phung Quan, an admissions and career guidance expert from the University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, TP HCM, explained that according to the 2026 admissions regulations, teacher training majors can only be considered within the first five preferences. For other majors, candidates can register them in any order. If a candidate is admitted to one preference, subsequent preferences become invalid.
If a candidate is keen on the Literature Pedagogy major at Sai Gon University, they should list this major as their first preference. They can also include a few other teacher training majors as backup options for preferences two to five. From the sixth preference onwards, candidates can list non-pedagogy majors.
Conversely, if a candidate has no interest in pursuing another pedagogy major, they only need to list Literature Pedagogy at Sai Gon University as their first preference. From the second preference onwards, they can list other majors.
"The crucial point is that Literature Pedagogy must be within the first five preferences. Other preferences should be arranged according to the candidate's level of interest and academic aspirations", Mr. Quan noted.
