Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy expands IELTS admission

Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy converts IELTS and TOEFL scores into English subject points for combined admission with graduation exam scores across all majors, with a minimum IELTS of 5,5.

Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Hue UMP) announced it will admit 1,690 students in 2026 using four methods: admission based on high school graduation exam results, combining graduation exam scores with international English certificates, direct admission, and admission based on competency assessment exam scores.

For 2026, Hue UMP significantly expands the use of international English certificates for admission to all majors. Previously, this method was limited to only three majors: Medicine, Odonto-Stomatology, and Pharmacy, requiring an IELTS score of 6,5 or higher. Now, students applying for admission can use an IELTS or TOEFL iBT certificate to convert into English subject points, which are then combined with their scores from two high school graduation exam subjects and priority points.

For Medicine, Odonto-Stomatology, and Pharmacy majors, applicants need an IELTS score of 6,5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 79 or higher. For all other majors, a minimum IELTS score of 5,5 or a TOEFL iBT score of 46 is required.

Hue UMP also introduces a new admission method this year, based on competency assessment exam results. Specifically, the university will consider scores from the HSA exam (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and the V-ACT exam (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City). This method applies to majors such as: Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Midwifery, Public Health, and Nutrition.

Except for Public Health and Nutrition, applicants for the remaining majors under this method must have a 12th-grade academic performance of 'good' or higher, or a high school graduation exam admission score of 6,5.

Admission quotas, subject combinations, and methods for Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2026:

Last year, the university's cutoff scores ranged from 17 to 25,17, with Medicine having the highest score. Majors such as Preventive Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Nutrition, and Public Health had a cutoff score of 17. Tuition fees at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy ranged from 43 to 61,1 million VND.

Tuition fees for students admitted in 2026 will be announced by the university in February.
